Treatments and Knowledge about the causes, transmission symptoms and prevention of urinary Schistosomiasis in Dundaye area was inadequate and that this could be a challenging obstacle to elimination of Schistosomiasis in the area. Treatment of all school-age children, farmers and fishermen children are required until the prevalence of infection falls below the level of public health importance. Mass chemotherapy should be emphasized and school and community-based health education regarding good personal hygiene and sanitary practices are imperative among these communities to significantly reduce the transmission and morbidity of schistosomiasis. The government should provide safe and portable drinking water in the study area. |
